Apu Maki ® is an innovating Peruvian company, formed by professionals and dedicated to the commercialization and promotion of crafts and other forms of art from different regions of Peru.
Apu Maki ® was created to show the cultural and historical richness of Peru shaped daily in the handmade work of the Peruvian artisans, inherited from the Incas and other great civilizations that flourished in its territory.
The company was created after a trip made by the associate founders to the Andean region of Peru .The crisp cold air and the illuminating sun intermingle with the sky in this region. A special energy can be felt while the voices of the spirits of the mountains can be heard: They are the Apus: they dwell in the Andes and according to an ancient Inca tradition, they govern the destinies of the world. The connection with this power is amazing. Here the artisans elaborate pieces of art, each one with unique details. Their main tools are their hands (Maki in Quechua). This made us consider that Peru has many wonderful things to offer, in addition to its rich historical and cultural past, and its spectacular geography, the works of the Peruvian artisans has to be shown to the world.
Apu Maki ® was born using these two Quechua words: Apu, related to the energy and the special spirit of the region and Maki, related to the manual and unique work of the artisans.
Our mission is to offer Peruvian art of the highest quality with a competitive and diverse exportable supply; in addition to that, we will respect the traditions and forms of life from the local communities, therefore generating employment and possibilities of development for the Peruvian artisans.
