Magical and Millenarian country! Peru is well known as the country of the Incas. Within Peru�s territory, the great Inca Empire flourished and prospered as well as other ancient civilizations. It has a rich natural and cultural history little common in the world.

Peru is also home of the most talented artisans that daily create beautiful handmade products, using ancient techniques transferred from one generation to another.

APU MAKI �

Part of Peru�s rich cultural heritage is its many languages. The most common language is Spanish however Quechua is the language inherited from the Inca Empire and is still spoken in many parts of the country today, mainly in the Andes.

Apu Maki �, two words in Quechua language that means: the hands of the Andean divinities or spirits. We chose this name because we believe that this amazing work can only be made by gifted hands.

We are a team of Peruvian professionals that offer crafts and other forms of art of the highest quality, from various regions of Peru. Most of the artisans that we work with are family members or close friends. That is the reason why we can offer competitive prices, unique designs, and custom made products. We are also committed to the economic, personal and professional development of the artisans; offering them the possibility to continue their traditions.

Our Products

Chulucanas Ceramics: In the north of Peru, there is a small town called Chulucanas, well known by its warm people and warm climate. Chulucanas is also famous for its art, a legacy of the Vicus and Tallan cultures. Although, the artisans still use ancient techniques for the elaborateness of these ceramics, their contemporary and very decorative designs fits perfectly with modern home d�cor. These ceramics come in different shapes and forms. Most of them are black and white. Besides the very decorative vases, the artisans also create ceramic figurines depicting people typical from this region, like the fruit vendors, the marinera dancers and the cholos.

Carved Gourds: The artisans of Cochas Chico, a small town in the Andes of Peru, create this amazing art since ancestral times. The carving technique involve etching fine lines into a dried gourd using a special tool called burin. This creates a series of drawings that generally represent scenes of the daily Andean life. The burned technique that follows establishes the contrasts between the carved figures and the gourd; giving it the varying shades of black, orange and brown.

Cuzco chess set: This colorful and creative chess set is made in Pisac, a small town near Cuzco. The pieces represent the Spaniards facing the Incas to depict the Spanish conquest of Peru in 1500�s. Each piece is delicately handmade in clay and painted with bright colors. The board is made of wood and hand painted with Peruvian designs and it can be oval shaped or the traditional square shaped.

Peruvian Clothing: Peruvian textiles are world-renown for their exceptional quality. Traditional Peruvian textiles are made of 100% Alpaca wool. An Alpaca is a South American camelid (similar to a llama) that grazes the high plateaus of the Andes Mountains at an elevation of 15,000 ft. Alpaca wool has been utilized by the native population of the Andes since ancient times due to its ability to protect them from the intense cold of the area. Alpaca wool is extremely soft, durable, water repellent, difficult to ignite and naturally luxurious. Alpaca wool is also hypoallergenic as it contains no lanolin. Local Artisans use this wool to craft gloves, scarves and the famous "chullos�.

Peruvian Mirrors: Los espejos peruanos son hechos de vidrio de cristal y el marco es elaborado en madera, tallados y pintados por manos de artistas. Existen 2 estilos principales de elaboraci�n de espejos, el estilo cusque�o, donde el marco del espejo es tallado y recubierto por laminas conocidas como �pan de oro� y el Cajamarquino donde el vidrio es pintado. Podemos adem�s encontrar un estilo mixto, llamado tambi�n estilo �Cuscaja� donde encontramos una combinaci�n de ambos estilos.
